  • Appropriate for Specific Groups:
    • Young Rabbits: Alfalfa hay-based pellets are ideal for rabbits up to six months old due to their higher nutritional needs.
    • Pregnant and Nursing Does: These pellets support the increased nutritional requirements during pregnancy and lactation.
  • Transition to Adult Diet:
    • Gradual Transition: As rabbits mature (around six months), their diet should transition to timothy hay-based pellets to prevent issues related to excess calcium and protein, such as urinary tract problems and obesity.
  • Moderation for Adults:
    • Limited Use: Adult rabbits generally do not require the high protein and calcium levels found in alfalfa hay-based pellets. Feeding these pellets to adult rabbits in large quantities can lead to health problems, so they should be used sparingly, if at all, for adult rabbits.

FEEDING INSTRUCTION:
Rabbit pellets should make up less of a rabbit’s diet as he or she grows older, and hay should be available 24 hours a day. From 7 weeks – 7 months, rabbits can have unlimited access to pellets. From 7 months – 1 year, decrease rabbit food pellets to 1/2 cup per six lbs. body weight. From 1 year – 5 years, 1/4 to 1/2 cup of rabbit pellets per six lbs. body weight (depending on metabolism) is recommended.
